FAQ iPhone screen protector

Why buy a tempered glass screen protector?

A tempered glass screen protector is not a guarantee against your iPhone screen breaking.

The fall of the smartphone screen can still break with a protective film. But it can prevent scratches. Tempered glass is more protective than a simple film. It affects the touch experience and iPhone screen less.

A tempered glass sheet is a simple but not foolproof protector. It helps protect the screen from direct impact, but it is only a little extra protection. It does not protect against bumps on the edges of the phone, which are much more common.

For really effective protection, the film should be used with a shockproof case. A good iPhone shockproof case is more important than a screen protector to keep the iPhone screen intact.

But scratch protection is also useful. A phone with a scratched screen is less pleasant to use and loses its value if you decide to sell it. More importantly, scratches weaken the structural integrity of the glass.

Therefore, a tempered glass sheet is useful to prevent micro-cracks that can damage the screen glass. It is a low-cost protection that preserves the original state of the screen. That is why we have tested several tempered glass sheets for iPhone.

In short, tempered glass can protect your phone screen from minor impacts and scratches. It is an extra protection, but not an absolute guarantee against screen breakage if you drop it on the floor, for example.

Why use a screen protector?

A screen protector is a good solution to protect a new smartphone or tablet. Indeed, this type of device costs several hundred euros. Given the size of this investment, a screen protector for less than 10 euros can be a necessary accessory to keep the screen of your device intact. Here are some tips on how to choose and install a screen protector.

In theory, a screen protector is a good idea. But in practice, this accessory is often difficult to install. It is often a dust trap that causes bubbles to form. Another major drawback is that a screen protector often disturbs the touch experience.

A smartphone without a screen protector is more pleasant to use. Despite these drawbacks, a sheet of tempered glass is still a useful protection to keep the screen intact and fight against daily wear and tear.

Screen protector or anti-shock case?

Some smartphone cases are complete protections. They protect both the back of the phone and the screen with a case and a screen protector. But this type of smartphone case is quite rare. Most of the time a case does not protect the screen.

A full shockproof case is not an ideal solution because it protects the screen with a rather thick plastic. The thickness of this protection is such that the touch screen is difficult to use.

A tempered glass screen protector is a much thinner protection. Once the film is placed on the screen, the touch experience is about the same as with a bare screen. The downside of a tempered glass screen protector is that it is difficult to put on.

What to check before putting on a screen protector

Here are a few things to check before putting on a screen protector:

Also use a compatible case: The tempered glass screen protector is not enough if you plan to resell your smartphone or tablet. It is advisable to use it in combination with an anti-shock case to better protect the device.

Look for a screen protector specific to your device: A tempered glass sheet is specifically designed for a device model. It is essential that the screen protector fits perfectly with the design of the phone.

Opt for a multi-pack of screen protectors: Attaching a tempered glass sheet to a screen is a frustrating and complicated process. When placing it, it is common to encounter alignment issues, dust and bubbles. Having 3-pack of screen protectors allows you to have a second chance in case you make a mistake.

Choose an anti-reflective glass: If you use your device a lot under direct sunlight, you can install an anti-reflective screen protector.

How to put a screen protector?

Here are some useful tips for putting a screen protector on a smartphone or tablet:

Find a clean and quiet place: to put a screen protector you need to be in a suitable place, ideally on a clean table without too much dust.

Clean your tablet or smartphone screen: Most protectors come with a cleaning solution or cloth. You need to wipe the smartphone or tablet screen with a microfiber cloth to keep it as clean as possible.

Align the protector correctly on your device: you need to make sure that the protector is properly aligned on the screen at both the top and bottom. Some screen protectors come with alignment guides that clip onto the smartphone. This makes the operation much easier.

Use a card to remove bubbles: the screen protector comes with a card that allows you to remove any bubbles that may form between the screen and the tempered glass. If the bubbles are too large, lift a corner of the film to reapply it.
